What I read in January 2010

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

I read six books in January! I know that Sasha over at Sasha & the Silverfish has me beat (she read twenty-two this month), but I’m still proud.

  1. Under the Dome by Stephen King
  2. The Bermudez Triangle by Maureen Johnson
  3. My Clockwork Heart by Joely Sue Burkhart
  4. Fray by Joss Whedon
  5. Wormwood: It Only Hurts When I Pee by Ben Templesmith
  6. Wormwood: Calamari Rising by Ben Templesmith

This month, I’m going to try to beat my own record and read 10! What did you read in January?

My Clockwork Heart

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

I love short stories. I like that I can read them in one sitting, and I like that they introduce me to authors I may not have known about otherwise. I found My Clockwork Heart on Twitter. It’s free to read on the author’s blog, so you can read it, too!

I loved the amount of suspense in the story, which reminded me a little of Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Telltale Heart,” because of the style and the major effect of the organ on the story. “My Clockwork Heart” chilled me to the very bone, in a good, fun way.

I won’t spoil you. Go read it and we can discuss it in the comments section below. Let me know what you thought of it!
